AITP (Association of Information Technology Proffesionals)

I have many goals for the AITP club. It's active members are severely lacking and do not show up for a lot of the meetings. Another thing is that there is not enough meetings, there is supposed to be a meeting every other tuesday but its turned into a once a month meeting. These problems can be fixed with better advertising to get the word out there about this club. I myself would have been very interested to join this club as soon as i came to USI, but i did not know about the club untill i had the academic advisor for the club as a teacher in a class this semester.

With some proper advertisement the members of this club would easily double. Such as advertising on the UC TV, bulletin board postings, or sidewalk chalk. Perhaps meetings are becoming a rarer occurence because students are not showing enough interest in the club and thus the management of the club do not bother with meetings. With a little interest shown from everyone that wants to help the club stay alive it can change the club around.

exercise 29

My example of public discourse is when I was in the 6th grade. Our lunch food was horrible, it was basically uneatable, many people just started bringing their own lunch because it was so bad. To try to get the principle to offer some edible food in our cafeteria we had about 20 people pile into his small office. It did not solve anything and we gave up when threatened of being suspended, it was a fun time though.

The blog that i analyzed is called "The Great Geek Manual" it is a blog about nerdy humor and giving random achievements made by geeks in the past on the current day. For example did you know that on February 18th, 1930 Clyde Tombaugh discovered the once planet pluto, becoming the only American astronomer to find a planet inside the solar system. The author is a 20 something white male living in Michigan. He is the definition of the geeky stereotype and I share a lot of the same interests as him. He made the blog to share all the cutting edge science news and telling some geeky history facts with humour.

The intended audience for this blog would be an average nerdy male or female in between the ages of 16-30. Although anyone would enjoy many parts of the blog many would not get the humor. Readers visit this blog to be informed although there is not a lot of interaction between the readers other than a few comments. I am definitely part of the intended audience and I am starting to visit this blog weekly. The blog is organized like a news site with a combination of formal and jargon language. The writer uses evidence in everything he puts up, rarely offering his opinions. The use of facts makes all his content believable.

The blogs message is to show everyone how much geeky people in history changed the world and how without any geeky people in history are society would be completely backwards. This shows us that it really isn't that bad to be a geeky kid and you should aspire to change the world for the better with your intelligence.

-Start playing tennis again.

-Hoping i made a good choice with voting for Obama

-Getting back in shape.

-Eat healthier (Burger King everyday isn't very good for you i hear)

-Catching up on some TV shows (still on season 1 of heroes)

-Hoping NASA can find another habitable earth-like planet and see a space race start up all over again.
